Content (Syllabus outline)
In the scope of teaching unit the following themes will be discussed: - The basic principles of organizational and management theories in the process of health care services; - - The importance of the individual, unit / team and organization for effective management of services and processes in health care; - The organization of basic health care services and conditions for their effective management; - The importance of e-Health and e-Health services for the general population and marginalized groups; - The public health system, electronic health records, - The role and practice of organizational performance and interpersonal behaviours and relationships within the health care management and leadership; - Human resource management in the process of health care services and the impact of effective communication, motivation for team management, implementation of conflict management, negotiation, group problem solving and decision-making in health and health care organizations; - New practices, skills and knowledge in the field of management of health care services and processes; - Basic principles of change management - process and service improvements in health care, generating alternative working processes, and services solutions in health care; - The practice of knowledge management in healthcare in terms of health care services and processes performance; - The impact of national policies, guidelines, initiatives, actions to manage services and processes in health care and the creation of appropriate user manuals; - External factors that affect the management of health services; - Foundations of planning in nursing management; - Unit records, reports and statistics in health services; - Quality improvement of health care processes and services; - Research performance in the field of management of services and processes in health care; - Implementation of evidence-based practice in the management of services and processes in health care;

Objectives and competences
Within the study unit students will be acquainted with basic principles of management processes and health services, the role of individuals and teams in the organization and successful implementation of services and processes in healthcare. Even more, students will be introduced, based on case studies, in-class exercises, and role-plays of simulated real-life situations applications, with practices of organizational and interpersonal behavioural conditions which occur during the management of work and people, various ways of managing human resources in the process of health care services, the impact of effective communication, motivation, team management, conflict management, negotiation, group problem solving and decision-making in health care and health care institution. Students will be also acquainted with the concept of e-Health services and their impact on quality of life of people, with a special focus on marginalized groups (as for example elderly people), they will also learn about the public health system and the development of the electronic health record. They will learn how to manage changes which occur in every national health care systems due to external and internal factors, new evidence based practices, skills and knowledge used in the management of services and processes in health care by generating alternative working solutions, processes, and services in health care. Due to the rapid changes in national health policies, students will gain knowledge on methods and procedures how to monitor national policies, guidelines, initiatives, actions in the field of management of services and processes in health care and how to perform appropriate implementation on the basis of developed user manuals and guidelines. Students will also learn about the importance and added value of research on the field of management of processes and services in healthcare and various implementation methods of evidence-based practices in organization and management of services and processes in the healthcare system.  
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Development of knowledge and understanding Students: Knowledge level: - A student has depth and systematic knowledge understanding in the field of management of processes and services in healthcare. They also mastered specific organizational theories of processes and health care services, and understands and uses studied scientific research articles from practical and theoretical point of view. Ethical level: - Knows the theory of ethical behavior and performance in relation to others and is able to solve dilemmas, problems and conflicts in a constructive and proactive manner based on the cooperation method. The level of methodological knowledge: - Knows methodological approaches used in the management performance of processes and services in healthcare. Additionally, the student knows the basic research methodology necessary to conduct research studies in practice and implementation of the research results in the health care practice  
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
Cognitive/Intellectual skills Level of analysis: - A student is able to analyse the state of the art of management of processes and services in healthcare and to clarify the results of critical analysis in a clear and understandable way. Level synthesis: - A student is able to critically synthesize the information obtained on the basis of the analyses carried out and to provide general strategic guidelines in an innovative manner with optimal effect and practical value for the development of processes and services in healthcare. Level of evaluation: - Based on a critical assessment of research and scientific evidence, the student is able to define and quantify objectives which are among selected methodological and management aspects most useful and efficient for the management of services and processes in healthcare. Level of use: - A student is able to work independently and solve problems, conflicts by using the latest management theories, as well as evidence-based practice in the field of management in health care. Based on human resource management knowledge within the implementation process of health care services the student is able to professionally plan and execute tasks and assignments. Key/ Transferable skills Group working: - A student is able to work in a team as a leader or team member. In the role of the leader the student is able to present working assignments clearly and understandable, additionally, the student is skilled to resolve conflicts using various methods such as conciliation, cooperation and transformation. The level of use of teaching aids: - A student is aware of different existing teaching aids that can in many ways contribute to a higher working performance and quality of work. The level of self-evaluation: - A student masters various methods of self-assessment and evaluation, is able to form evaluation/measurement tools that can improve the functioning of individuals, as well as organization and management of processes and services in healthcare organizations. The level of management of information: - A student is able, based on existing and available information, independently perform various working tasks, as well as perform unique research work. The level of autonomy: - A student is independent in learning and able to self-critically assess gained knowledge, which enables the student them to perform research and further education in the areas where his/her knowledge and skills lacks. The level of problem solving: - A student is able to perform self-directed learning, thinking and research for further lifelong personal and professional development. Practical skills The level of application skills: - A student is able to adapt to different working conditions (stress, unpredictable situations, etc..) in terms of optimal working tasks performance, while a student uses the latest information and communication technology tools. Level of autonomy in skill use: - A student demonstrates a high level of autonomy, personal and professional responsibility during job performance. Level of proficiency and technical expertise: - On the basis of constant and continuous lifelong learning, (formal or otherwise), the study of the latest technical and scientific literature, a student is aware of the latest findings in the field of interest on the basis of which a student working performance is efficient and optimal.
